Grow And Be Productive By Leaving Your Comfort Zone

A Comfort zone can be referred to as a psychological state in which an individual feels safe. It fulfills the most powerful six human needs and it is the need for certainty. When you are in your comfort zone you know what to expect and how to react to a situation. You may feel like you have some control over the situation and you are at peace as all your immediate needs are fulfilled.

The human mind is the most powerful of all. It can allow us to discover and innovate unimaginable things by overcoming so many challenges yet it also craves comfort. The brain is said to be the creature of habit, whenever it has to make a decision it refers back to those neural pathways that it has created. These become patterns in our thoughts and behaviors. And maybe this is the reason we feel like we are stuck and if you feel that you are stuck somewhere, it may be the time that you need to leave your comfort zone. By doing this you will be able to welcome growth and productivity.

The moment you leave your comfort zone you may feel that no longer you are familiar with the situation nor it is controllable. Since the brain hasn't created the pathways it needs in order to know how to react to a situation, you may feel anxious and fearful. But learning to leave your comfort zone is needed for growth and productivity.

When you live in your comfort zone, it has many benefits like:

Reduce anxiety

Low stress

A general feeling of wellbeing

But apart from its benefits, it can also make you feel like you are in a holding pattern and your growth has become stagnant. As even uncertainty and growth are human needs. It may sound contradictory but too much certainty won't fulfill our need for growth and new experiences and too much uncertainty can lead to a lack of productivity and anxiety.

If you are able to move out of your comfort zone in regular and positive ways, it will allow you to strike the right balance between uncertainty and certainty. Pushing your boundaries can make you more productive, more creative, and more adaptable. When you start to push your personal boundaries, you train your brain to adapt to new situations and create new neural pathways that make you a better problem-solver, decision-maker, and leader. You become unstoppable once you do this.

In order to leave your comfort zone, you must learn to control the natural anxiety and fear you may feel while trying out new things. You can start it by getting in touch with your emotions and transforming your mindset.

The first step is to find your baseline, and determine what is your driving force. If you think that you consider certainty or human connection as your top need, you may need to leave your comfort zone more than others. In order to move out of your comfort zone, you must determine your risk tolerance.

People who have mastered their emotions are more easily able to leave their comfort zones than those who stay stuck in routines. It is obvious that when you leave your comfort zone you may feel anxious and it may tell you, you feel vulnerable, acknowledge it and then move past it. To grow, you need to face your fears.

One of the most common fears that hold us back from achieving excellence is the fear of failure. Whenever you see a successful person you will find they have one thing in common and that is they have failed spectacularly at some point in their lives. And the difference is that they don't let failure hold them back. Because they know in every failure there is a lesson and in order to find it you need to move out of your comfort zone.

Surround yourself with the right people and people with a growth mindset. People who challenge themselves to do better and be better on a daily basis. People who celebrate your accomplishments and help you learn from your failures.

Start small, you can start by greeting your co-workers you never wish or by making a quick company announcement that you never did. Try a new restaurant or take a different route to work. Try creating new habits that may turn your ability to leave your comfort zone into something that feels natural and becomes a part of your daily routine.

If you are not growing, you are not living, growth is an essential human need. People who are very successful have a deep need for growth that pushes them to move out of their comfort zone in search of new things. This is what we call a growth mindset, the belief that we humans can improve our skills. People who have a fixed mindset don't believe they can improve themselves and may not even try. Unlock your inner power by developing a growth mindset.
